ObamaCare is a $1 trillion bribe intended to placate The One’s angry socialist base. After Thursday’s trick pony "summit," the American people will be forced to pay for it:
We are witnessing a low point in American leadership. Obama, working in tandem with the villainous aims of a destructive Democrat Congress, is forging ahead with his scheme to force Americans to suffer under government-run health care rationing. The very best that can be said of ObamaCare is that it represents onerous presidential meddling in the legislative arena.
Americans, by a wide margin, don’t want socialism. Americans don’t want ObamaCare. What Americans do want are common-sense, responsible solutions that address the rising cost of health care.
Furthermore, Americans also want the American medical health care system, the finest and most advanced on the planet, left alone. But unfortunately, what they want clashes with the Democrats’ obsession with socializing the nation.
Two weeks ago, Obama challenged Republicans to join him in a nationally-televised summit to discuss proposals for health care reform. Thanks to a lengthy, documented history of deceit and strong-arm politics by Obama and the Democrat Congress, Republicans justly wondered if Obama’s proposal represented bipartisanship or was simply another of his many ruses to dupe the opposition and the American people.
With the unveiling of ObamaCare, the opposition now has its answer — more lies.
No meaningful changes and costlier
And so this Thursday, state-run media will gleefully portray Republicans at the carefully-staged "summit" as being obstructionist. They will tout Obama and his ObamaCare as being the salvation we have been waiting for. Then, following the farce, Obama, Reid, and Pelosi will employ budget reconciliation to mandate government-run health care rationing on America.
While not 2,500 pages long, ObamaCare still contains government price fixing. It includes tax protection for expensive union health care plans — but no protection for nonunion health plans. It forces all Americans to pay for government-run health rationing, under penalty of heavy fines or imprisonment. It mandates selective and subjective care. It forces Americans to pay for abortion.
Worst of all, the Congressional Budget Office says there is insufficient data available to estimate ObamaCare’s true cost. However, according to Americans for Tax Reform, the trillion-dollar price is to be partially paid by a net federal tax increase of $629 billion, much of which coming from Americans earning less than $250,000. Oh yes, and don’t forget: ObamaCare also includes a 2.9 percent Medicare tax on all unearned income.
Desperate measures
A report by Politico summed it up nicely:
The White House opened its last-ditch push for health reform Monday by releasing a $950 billion plan that signaled a new phase of hands-on presidential involvement. But by day’s end, Obama was staring down all the same old problems. Republicans called it a retread of the same bills Americans have panned, even though it included some GOP ideas. "Deja vu all over again," said Senator Judd Gregg (R-NH).
And as for the repeated claims by Obama, the Democrat Congress, and state-run media that there have been no Republican proposals — enough with lying to America. Republicans have not only developed detailed plans, they are available for viewing online. But you will never hear of them from state-run media.
Always remember the facts:
- The Democrat Congress shut Republicans out of the entire ObamaCare process;
- Democrat Congress and White House staffs, as well as radical special-interest groups collaborated in writing the House and Senate versions during closed-door meetings;
- House and Senate versions were passed in direct opposition to the will of the American people;
- The new ObamaCare scheme fixes nothing in the Democrat Congress versions; and
- ObamaCare will be passed against the will of the American people soon after the conclusion of Thursday’s trick pony show.
Shakedown
The latest polling shows that a significant majority of Americans want Congress to scrap their health care schemes and start over. Obama talks bipartisanship, but his proposal and his actions this week make clear that he and the Democrat Congress are running a shakedown scam of epic proportions. They hope the American people won’t figure it out until it’s too late.
In staff level discussions, the White House made it clear that it supported changes to the Senate bill through the back door by budget reconciliation because that was the only way to pass ObamaCare. Reid and Pelosi will see to it that the changes are made so that America will be shackled with unwanted government-run health care rationing.
ObamaCare is not bipartisan in any way. Obama considers himself above the restrictive legal authority of the Constitution and the will of the American people. Remember this as you watch the coming shakedown of the nation.
Hype and Chains.
