A violation of conscience

conscienceWe are witnessing the systematic plunder of wealth, power, and free will from American citizens by an authoritative statist government. We perceive there is no one to stop this theft, and with reason.

Where is that individual or group with the courage to define and separate itself from the pilferage by what it stands for, and what it stands against?

George Orwell, in his Epilogue to 1984, said the purpose of “Newspeak” was not only to provide a medium of expression for the worldview and mental habits proper to devotees of “Ingsoc,” but to make all other modes of thought impossible.

It seems Mr. Orwell’s theorem is being proven by the skillfully crafted menace America faces today: An authoritative mutation of republican government that is shaping the conscience of those who fall within its sphere of control.

Calculated delegitimization

In America’s case, this scheme was invested decades before the ascension of The One, Barack Hussein Obama.

But especially from November 2000 on, not one day passed where President Bush was not vilified by the leftist media for what he did, what he didn’t do, what he said, what he didn’t say, or for things with which he was not even remotely associated. This naked hatred, of course, was extended to every member of his administration.

Perpetually assailed as well were Corporate America, health care, conservatives, religion, education, sovereignty, the military, self-reliance, self-accountability, and morality.

History has taught us: Disparage people, values, or institutions often enough and vehemently enough and they become anathema to those susceptible, even at the intellectual level.

To destroy a society, it is first necessary to delegitimize its basic institutions so as to alienate the affections and identification of its people from those institutions and their leadership.

Who reading this has not been touched, even in some small way, by the incessant, decades-long, venom-filled onslaught?

Reality vs perception

A sure way to win a debate, even one whose foundation is built upon nothing more than spoon-fed perceptions, is to define the terrain on which it is conducted. In this Obama, the Democrat Congress, and their ancillary agents have been masterful.

But they have had significant help. The same leftist media that toiled so strenuously to delegitimize the Bush presidency is now actively in league with and servile to the Obama statists.

The multi-trillion-dollar budget of Obama and the Democrat Congress, the first of many, adds more to the national debt than all the previous presidents combined — yet America’s state-run media rejoices.

Obama and the Democrat Party are abrogating freedom by forcing socialized education, socialized health care, socialized taxation, and nationalization of American banks and corporations — yet America’s state-run media celebrates.

California, the so-called trend-setting state, is now bankrupt thanks to its social welfare giveaways of mind-boggling magnitude, repressive taxation, eco-terrorism, and the demonization of businesses. Yet America’s state-run media lauds its system as a “model for America.”

Our government is now a bloated monstrosity, a corpulent Colossus, meting out unsustainable entitlements that will reduce our nation of its wealth, our people of their dignity, and our children of their liberty.

Terminal decline

America has changed greatly in a very brief period of time, but the perception of change has been lost on many of us. The emerging reality has been craftily manipulated so that its overwhelmingly oppressive effects, taken individually, are nearly palatable.

We are being transformed from a nation of self-reliant individuals into a nation of needy subjects — a nation in which dissenting ideas and even words are labeled as extremist or hateful.

We are being manipulated to be mediocre, to be helpless.

Throughout history, Statists who had the power to grant and control all of a people’s basic needs, without alternative sources, became increasingly comfortable with regulating behavior.

We have much to lose, and we are losing it.
