Have you noticed the subtle ground tremors? The ever-so-slight but steadily evolving doubt? Obama’s responses to a faltering economy, global threats, and steadfast allies have left many Americans feeling unnerved.
There is a growing perception that this administration and the Democrat Congress are rushing to enact as much of their socialist agenda as possible before 2010.
Why 2010? Because recent polls indicate that there is a virtual deadlock between likely voters as for whom they will vote in the 2010 congressional elections.
Growing public awareness
This week, Rasmussen Reports found that 42 percent plan to vote for congressional Democrats and 38 percent for Republicans. According to Rasmussen, this may be the best single piece of electoral news for Republicans in three years.
This is especially true when one factors in that the Drive-by Media is voluntarily propping up and shielding the Democrat Congress and administration.
And even as the White House and Congress are busily vectoring non-stop attacks against conservatives as well as any other administration critics, this latest survey shows that there is little traction for such egregious scheming.
Clever but dishonest politics
Despite the Drive-by Media carrying water for Democrats, Americans are becoming increasingly aware of Obama’s penchant for liberal business as usual and the Democrat Congress’ statist agenda.
No greater example exists than the ambrosia-laden $800 Billion welfare giveaway. This abomination — an “emergency” and “stimulus” act that does not address the emergency, is short on stimulus, and long on pork — was crafted by the staffs of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi.
There is now a palpable discontent with the illusive blaming of every woe on the previous administration, verbal assaults on private citizens, bevy of ethically-challenged administration nominees, and myriad foreign policy gaffes.
When one factors in conflicted war policies, timidity toward foreign antagonists, excessive time away from the nation’s business for parties, retreats, and fact-finding missions, reversal of controversial social policies, and confiscatory, welfare-laden budget proposals, Obama and the Democrat Congress have fundamentally deceived the nation when compared to their election rhetoric — and are therefore vulnerable.
Make it happen
There is no better time than now to show your support for those stalwart conservatives remaining in the House and Senate, continuing to fight the good fight. Start corresponding with your Representatives and Senators, keep abreast of their voting records, and offer to assist any of them worthy of your effort.
If you are not already doing so, begin polite dialogue with your neighbors and work associates about the Democrat agenda and their failing policies. Write clear, reasoned opinion letters to your local newspapers. In any capacity, participate in local elections.
If you don’t currently publish a blog or Web site, start one — or at least support your favorites. 2010 will be upon us in an eye-blink, so plan now on inviting at least three like-minded acquaintances with you to the polls.
Be positive
Can we realistically expect conservative control of the House or Senate in 2010? No, probably not. but there is no reason to think that we cannot significantly increase the number of conservative, or at least Republican, voices in Congress.
And with that increase will come a stronger, more effective conservative bloc to thwart or slow the planned statist takeover of America’s health care, energy, and education.
Remember, Obama and the Democrat Congress are illustrating just how easy it is to amend or abolish existing policies and laws. All you need are the numbers come vote time, and 2010 is a good starting point for conservatives.
